Sat Nav for Sale? Not on PG Team’s Watch |

Officers from the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team wasted no time getting back into the swing of things today, returning from a busy weekend and going straight back into proactive action across the city centre.
Before most of Manchester had even woken up, PC Simm had already made an arrest. Acting on complaints from a local business, he detained an adult male on suspicion of a Public Order offence. The individual has since been charged and bailed with conditions preventing him from returning to the area.
Meanwhile, PC Marothi put his instincts to good use when dealing with a male who attempted to provide false details. After some diligent checks, it quickly became clear that all was not as it seemed—the individual was in fact wanted on warrant in Scotland. He is now en route back north of the border to face the consequences.
Elsewhere in the Gardens, PC Cross detained a male well known to the team for theft-related matters after he was seen exiting a pawnbroker. Swift enquiries revealed the man had attempted to sell a sat nav inside the shop. He was arrested on suspicion of theft and has since been bailed with conditions while investigations continue.
The pace didn’t slow as the day went on. Sergeant Wyatt and PC Duffy found themselves in pursuit of a male who made off from them, leading to what could only be described as a wild goose chase around the Gardens. With assistance from firearms officers, the male was eventually detained. Checks confirmed he was wanted after being recalled to prison, and PC Zamecnik stepped in to make the arrest.
Rounding off the day, PC Zamecnik and Sergeant Wyatt have remained on duty well beyond their scheduled finish time, working tirelessly to secure charges against one of the team’s most prolific offenders. An update on that outcome is expected tomorrow.
Sergeant Jon Wyatt said:
Another day, and another strong showing from the Piccadilly Gardens team—demonstrating once again that their presence in the city centre is both constant and effective.
